LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville senior men's golfer Matthias Schmid will compete in the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational, a PGA Tour event that will begin Thursday at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Fla.
This will be Schmid's second appearance on the PGA Tour after competing in the 2019 British Open. The fourth-year senior had a two-day score of 5-over-par 142 and missed the cut at the Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.
Schmid's final season has gotten off to a fast start with a pair of third-place finishes. He shot a 7-under-par 209 at the Mobile Bay Invitational and posted the same finish at the competitive Southwestern Invitational.
After three events this spring, Schmid leads the team with a 71.55 stroke average and has posted six rounds under par.
Schmid will be facing a field that features three of the top 10, 12 of top 25 and 24 of the top 50 players in the world who will play in Central Florida's signature sporting event.

Hatton, McIlroy and DeChambeau join Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler in highlighting the field along with 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational champion Francesco Molinari and 2018 Masters Champion Patrick Reed.
